Federal immigration officials could interact only with people named in a valid warrant in California state buildings, including Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board offices, under a bill recently amended in the state Senate.
Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, last year introduced SB 183, which would prohibit Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents from entering a state office building without a warrant. On Monday, Lara amended the bill to limit ICE agents to interacting with only the person who is the subject of the warrant.
