Supreme Court Says County Clerk Must Indemnify Bond Surety

The Mississippi Supreme Court ruled a public official could not be liable to two injured workers for having negligently approved their employer's supersedeas bond, and so the surety on his public official bond was not liable to the workers, but the official was contractually obligated to indemnify the surety for the cost of defending the suit.Case: Newton County v.
