A Texas appellate court overturned an award of benefits to a former professional football player, finding he had elected a remedy for his injury under a collective bargaining agreement.
Alcus Reshod Fortenberry played football at Texas Tech University and was picked up by the Dallas Cowboys in 2015.
He began attending practices in Dallas before heading west to California for training camp. Fortenberry injured his knee at camp, and the Cowboys released him from his three-year contract in May 2016 because of his injury.
