The share of designated doctors who are medical doctors plummeted after the Texas Legislature adopted tighter training and certification rules in 2011, while the share who are chiropractors nearly doubled, according to a report by the Division of Workers’ Compensation, released Friday.
The study by the DWC’s Research and Evaluation Group found that the number of medical doctors certified as designated doctors dropped, from 70% in 2010 to 44% in 2015, while the share who were doctors of osteopathy dropped, from 10% to 7%.
