The average cost of claims in Michigan fell 4% between 2008 and 2011, while they rose 8% in other states, the Workers Compensation Research Institute has found.
Workers' compensation costs in Michigan were below the median in every area WCRI researchers looked at in a 17-state study, according to a Thursday press release. Between 2008 and 2011:
Indemnity benefits per claim decreased 12% and were 22% lower than the 17-state median.
Benefit delivery expenses per claim decreased 5% and were 21% lower than the median.
