TX Man Guilty of Fraud Could Face $1.5M Fine & 30 Yrs

A federal jury in Dallas, Texas, served up a guilty verdict to an air traffic controller/pilot who claimed a back injury in 1996 when he fell out of a chair at work. Michael Lee Harms, 50, of Grapevine, TX, was convicted of fraudulently collecting more than $359,000 in workers' compensation benefits, according to the US Attorney's Office. While collecting disability indemnity under the program, Harms apparently continued working as a pilot for air freight companies, but failed to report his employment to the Office of Workers' Compensation.
