Labor Cabinet Offers Free OSHA Training in September

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet will offer a week of free safety training next month in Danville, the department announced this week.
The training provides continuing education credits for skilled trades and is designed to help employers and employees remain compliant with U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
The classes will be Sept. 17-21 at the Holiday Inn Express, 200 Shannon Way, Danville. Registration and information are available online.
The classes are:
Monday, Sept. 17
- Overview of the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Program, enforcement and voluntary compliance.
- Injury and illness record-keeping.
Tuesday, Sept. 18
- Permits and training required for working in confined spaces.
- Personal protective equipment.
Wednesday, Sept. 19
- Communicating to employees about job hazards, including chemicals; labeling, safety data sheets and training.
- Requirements for walking and working surfaces safety.
Thursday, Sept. 20
- Fall protection standards, training and protection, parts 1 and 2; includes hands-on use of ladders, harnesses and lanyards.
Friday, Sept. 21
- Wage and hour laws, and record-keeping.
