Needle-stick injuries led to $55,000 in penalties by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration against Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J., OSHA said Thursday.
OSHA said it opened an investigation last October after a compliance officer investigating a complaint reviewed the hospital's OSHA 300 logs and found there was an unusual amount of exposure to needle sticks and blood-borne pathogens. It issued citations for nine serious and six other-than-serious safety and health violations.
