The owner of a Florida construction company is accused of using a check-cashing service to conceal payroll in order to avoid $1.8 million in workers' compensation premiums, the state Department of Financial Services said Wednesday.
Investigators for the department charged Maira Chirinos, owner of Tocoa Builders, with workers' compensation premium fraud and grand theft, both first-degree felonies.
