A bill in Congress to extend a federal terrorism risk backstop that’s set to expire at the end of 2020 is scheduled for a committee hearing on Tuesday.
Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California, introduced H.R. 4634, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2019, on Oct. 11. The bill would extend the program in its current form for 10 years, through 2030.
The bill has been referred to the House Financial Services Committee, which Waters chairs, and a hearing has been set for Tuesday.
