The New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Administration proposed a package of rule changes that would increase food and lodging reimbursements and double the payment owed to doctors for deposition testimony.
The rules would also establish limited independent medical examinations as a subset of the third-party reviews. The proposed rules would authorize an independent medical examiner to address any medical issue in dispute, including the causal relationship to the accident. A limited IME would be allowed to resolve disputes over the reasonableness and necessity of specific medical care.
