Kentucky in 2018 became one of the first states to exempt some types of gig workers from workers' compensation requirements.
On Friday, Republican lawmakers approved a bill that would make it clear that direct sellers — such as home-based cosmetics salespeople and multi-level marketers — are also exempt from comp, unemployment, and wage and hour laws.
