Borough Fires Police Chief following Lengthy Comp Leave

The Eddystone Borough, Pa., Council voted Monday to dismiss its police chief, who has been on leave since Aug. 8, 2012, for a work-related back injury, the Delaware County News Network reported.The news service said Chief William Conner filed a workers' compensation claim after twisting his back when a cup of coffee he was carrying through the borough police station fell out of his hands and spilled."Due to the injury or disability the chief has, it has been determined he is not capable of performing the essential duties of a police officer," Councilman William Stewart said in making the m...
