Preferred Employers Appoints Regional Sales Manager

Preferred Employers Insurance, a subsidiary of W.R. Berkley that offers specialty workers' compensation insurance in California, announced Tuesday the appointment of Rick Chen as regional sales and distribution manager for Northern California.

Chen has 17 years of experience in workers' compensation insurance sales, broker development and broker relationships, the carrier said in a press release. He will be responsible for achieving producer sales objectives, client retention goals and growing sales volume profitably. 

Chen was previously manager of Western region sales for Employers Insurance Group and a sales manager for FirstComp Insurance, according to his LinkedIn page. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from SOAS University of London.

Preferred Employers began operations in San Diego in 1998 and has a second office in Walnut Creek. The company said it operates the only directly contracted medical provider network in California.
