Builders Insurance Group on Monday announced the appointment of J. Stephen Berry as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
He replaces Craig Edwards, who will retire this month, the Atlanta-based carrier said in a press release.
Berry will be the company’s primary legal adviser, ensuring compliance regarding business ethics, information security, privacy policies and insurance department regulations.
Berry jointed Builders Insurance 15 years ago, the company said. He was previously a partner at Dentons US law firm, where he led the insurance team in the Atlanta Office. He is author of Georgia Property and Liability Insurance Law published by West in 2012.
Berry holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, a master’s in European history and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia.
