Pennsylvania employer interests are trying again this year to put long-tail occupational disease claims back in the workers' compensation arena.
House Bill 1234, introduced by Rep. Jim Cox, R-Sinking Spring, picks up where two similar bills left off when they failed to pass the General Assembly last year, and would go a step further in protecting companies and their affiliates from tort claims.
The bill has been assigned to the House Labor and Industry Committee, where Cox is chairman, and a hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Eastern time May 6.
