A chiropractor pleaded guilty last week in a Pennsylvania federal court to an insurance billing scheme that attracted college students by offering them a place in a clinical trial.
Brian K. Watkins pleaded guilty last week to defrauding health insurer Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield between March 1996 and October 1999, U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan said.
Buchanan said that Watkins told staff members at Three Rivers Chiropractic to bill the insurer for treatments he never provided, the Associated Press reported.
