Florida Roofers Arrested for 'Going Bare'

The owners of an Orange County, Florida, roofing company have been arrested for workers' compensation fraud and organized fraud, Department of Insurance Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher announced yesterday. Investigators with the department's Division of Insurance Fraud say Clifton Meyer, 69, and son-in-law Mark Lee, 36, both owners of Meyer & Lee Construction, Inc., failed to report payroll, for workers' compensation purposes, on 85 employees for more than $900,000 to either their staff leasing company or their insurance company, Liberty Mutual.
