The New York State Senate has voted to override Gov. Eliot Spitzer's veto of legislation that would boost benefits for private hospital workers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics who were sent to Ground Zero following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Monday's vote sends the bill back the New York State Assembly in the closing days of the 2007 session for another vote. The Senate voted 141-0 on June 11 to pass Senate Bill 3070, which increased benefits for death and temporary or permanent partial disability.
