Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said yesterday it assigned its 'A-' long-term debt rating to the approximately $1 billion equivalent junior subordinated notes to be issued by Zurich Finance (UK) PLC (not rated) and Zurich Finance (USA), Inc. (not rated), based on draft documentation. Both issues are unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed on a subordinated basis by Zurich Insurance Co. (ZIC; foreign currency A+/Stable/A-1, local currency A+/Stable/--), a core entity of the Switzerland-based Zurich Financial Services Group (ZFS; core entities are rated A+/Stable/A-1).
