Governor Gray Davis announced Friday that more than 13,800 Californians with significant disabilities were placed in meaningful jobs in fiscal year 2002-03 by the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR). Despite the difficulties in the economy, this is an increase of 10 percent over the previous fiscal year.
"I am very proud of Californians who overcome challenges to become economically self-sufficient," Governor Davis said. "These statistics show that jobs for persons with disabilities are an important part of our state's economy."
