The Liberty Mutual Research Center for Safety and Health has released its 2002 Workplace Safety Index.
According to the Index, the 10 leading causes of disabling workplace injuries accounted for 86% of the $40.1 billion
in direct costs resulting from workplace injuries in 1999, the last year for which data is available.The 10 leading causes and direct costs of workplace injuries ($ Billion) are:
