The Texas Department of Insurance is working to develop the first annual research agenda for its Workers' Compensation Research and Evaluation Group, as part of the reorganization of the Texas workers' compensation system.
HB 7, passed earlier this year, abolishes the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission and moves its functions to the new Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) at TDI, effective Sept. 1.
Sept. 1 also is the "approximate date" for Insurance Commissioner Mike Geelin to adopt the research agenda, TDI spokesman Jerry Hagins said Thursday.
