The city council in Vicksburg, Miss., Tuesday fired a veteran police officer, ruling that he failed to provide documentation to prove that he was able to perform the duties of his job.
Rudolph Walker, a Vicksburg patrol officer and brother of the Mississippi River town's former mayor, received injuries to his back, knee, hip and wrist after his patrol car was struck from behind on a stretch of federal highway Jan. 4, 2006.
Walker is receiving workers' compensation benefits and left his post in May under the Family and Medical Leave Act, said his attorney, Richard Dean.
