An Indian tribe that signed a gaming compact with the state of California did not waive its sovereign immunity from workers' compensation in the process, the Fifth District Court of Appeal ruled on Thursday.
The court, writing an an unpublished opinion in the matter of Sullivan v. Workers' Compensation Appeals Board,, F049313/WCAB No. FRE 0205393, refused to overturn the board's decision in favor of Table Mountain Rancheria, a federally recognized Indian tribe.
