National Wrecking Co. of Chicago pleaded guilty in an Ontario province court and was fined $250,000 for a fatality at a demolition site.
The death occurred on Oct. 15, 2003, while a worker was searching for a tool at a building
under demolition in Sault Ste. Marie. A steel door weighing 2,500 pounds fell on the man, crushing him. He later died.
The incident occurred a short time after a second worker bumped up against the
door with a bobcat while removing scrap steel piled in front of the door. The
