The Washington Post reported that Maryland's first Republican governor in three decades, Robert. L. Ehrlich Jr., has appointed the law partner of Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. (D-Prince George's) to the Workers Compensation Committee. Ruffling some party feathers, Ehrlich apparently made several Democrat appointments to boards and commissions in the state. The governor reappointed John R. Webster, Miller's law partner, to a 12-year term on the Maryland State Workers Compensation Committee.
