TX 2nd Affirms Timely Filing is Jurisdictional

The Second District of the Texas Court of Appeals affirmed the principle that timely filing for notice of appeal is jurisdictional. In Clewis v. Safeco Insurance Co. of America, No. 2-05-190-CV, 07/14/2005, Wilbert Clewis obtained an unfavorable judgment from the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission (TWCC), and subsequently sought judicial review. The trial court affirmed the decision of the TWCC, and Clewis attempted to appeal. The Court of Appeals dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
