Larry Bruning, chief actuary for the Kansas Insurance Department, has been elected and installed as a director of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Bruning, with 29 years of experience as an actuary, was seated as a director Oct. 3 during the academy's annual meeting in Washington, D.C. He has been with the insurance department since 2003.
As a member of the academy's board, Bruning will help set strategic goals and priorities for the organization, which functions as the public information group for the actuarial profession in the United States.
