Florida Reforms Have Slowed Spiraling Expenses

The controversial 2003 reforms that Florida lawmakers pushed through as SB 50A appear to have played a major role in slowing the growth of medical costs and dropping indemnity cost per claim by at least 11%, the Workers Compensation Research Institute has reported. The Massachusetts-based institute released its analysis of the early impact of Florida reforms at a Web conference with an estimated 60 stakeholders and reporters Wednesday.
