Investigators with the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigations Branch announced the arrest of Margaret Lawanda Cook, 51, of El Sobrante, California. Cook was arrested on eight counts of insurance fraud stemming from false workers' compensation and automobile claims. She is being held on $200,000 bail. If convicted, Cook could face up to five years in state prison and/or a maximum fine of $200,000. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office is prosecuting the case.
