Florida Charges 10 with Hurricane Insurance Fraud

Alex Sink, Florida's chief financial officer, said Thursday fraud investigator charged 10 people with filing fraudulent hurricane claims, including a general lines agent and a public adjuster. Sink said in a statement the suspected fraudulent claims total nearly $300,000 and triggered felony charges in each case. Eight of the 10 have been arrested, she said. Investigators made the arrests Wednesday and Thursday, five days before lawmakers are scheduled to return to Tallahassee for a special session on property and casualty insurance reform.
