PN Police Chief Guilty of Theft

A former Pennsylvania police chief who last year received a sentence for workers' compensation fraud, has now pleaded guilty to stealing more than $10,000 as well. Peter D. Messina, 68, the police chief for the city of Edgewood for nearly 17 years and its manager for about 13 years, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and was sentenced to nine months of house arrest on Monday.The theft charges arose out of Messina's use of a municipal credit card to purchase personal items and make cash advances.The work comp fraud case was based on accusations that Messina collected $11,321 in work comp ind...
