The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals decided that that Mississippi workers' compensation system has jurisdiction over a claim filed by a contractor's employee who was injured out of state.
The employee worked for a Mississippi-based contractor, but the man was injured on a job in Alabama. His employer paid workers' compensation benefits under the Mississippi schedule, but the man protested and asked for Alabama benefits instead.
The case is Ex parte Builders and Contractors Association of Mississippi Self-Insurer's Fund, 2060718, 08/31/2007.
