AZ Business Out in Force to Oppose Sale of Fund

The Arizona Business Journal reported that the state's legislators were barraged with lobbying by business groups on Tuesday in opposition to a proposed sale of off the state's workers' compensation fund. The the business lobby, consisting of groups such as the National Federation of Independent Business and the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, worries that if the fund is privatized it will hurt small businesses.There is presently pending plans to sell the State Compensation Fund to a private or nonprofit operator to help offset the state's $1.5 billion deficit.
