The North Dakota House of Representatives rejected a bill that would have given the governor more control over directors of the state's monopoly insurer, the Bismark Tribune reported Monday.
Senate Bill 2257 by Sen. Joel Heitkamp, D-Hankinson sought to establish the agriculture commissioner, insurance commissioner and attorney general as a screening committee for prospective members of the Workforce Safety and Insurance (WSI) board members.
The House voted 81-6 on Friday to reject the bill. Even sponsors of the legislation turned against it after it was amended, the newspaper reported.
