DWC Triples Allowance in Proposed Regs for Certain Spinal Devices

The California Division of Workers’ Compensation on Tuesday increased by more than three times the original proposed allowance for certain procedures in modified regulations that will eliminate the pass-through on spinal hardware required by Senate Bill 863.The reform measure repeals the section of the Labor Code authorizing the pass-through on spinal hardware, but also orders the administrative director to adopt additional reimbursements for hardware and instrumentation for Diagnostic Related Groups (DRG) 028, 029, 030, 453, 454, 455 and 456.
