Prium Develops Program to Taper Drug Use of Chronic Pain Patients

Utilization review company Prium announced a new program that it says will develop a plan for tapering chronic pain patients off complex drug regimens. Chronic pain patients typically receive a mix of medications that can include opioids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, benzodiazepines, muscle-relaxants and anti-depressants, the company said. Weaning patients off multiple drugs is complicated because different protocols apply to the different medications.
