The National Council on Compensation Insurance has filed a proposed rate change for Jan. 1 that it projects will reduce workers' compensation premiums by 2.2% -- and it may become an even steeper drop once Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty gets done with the rate filing.
NCCI is once again asking to increase the profit and contingency provision in rates. McCarty blocked that move last year when he rejected NCCI's proposed 3.3% average rate reduction and ordered a 5.2% reduction instead.
