An attorney in Southern California launched an advertising campaign using the name of a nationally recognized law firm to solicit workers’ compensation patients who were then used as part of an illegal referral scheme, according to the Orange County grand jury.
The grand jury in April handed down a 47-count indictment naming attorneys Steven O. Mehr and George P. Hobson III as defendants. Both were released April 26 after posting bond of $100,000.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office did not respond to multiple emails and calls about the case last week.
