New Yorkers still on the job should have more time to file for paid family leave when a loved one falls ill from COVID-19, the Workers' Compensation Board said last week.
The board in March adopted, on an emergency basis, a rule change that makes COVID-19 illness a reason for which employers must grant up to two weeks of paid leave when a worker needs to attend to a sickened family member.
But the rule was set to expire in June, so the board is moving to extend it until at least July 27. Comments on the change will be accepted through mid-September and can be emailed to regulations@wcb.n...
