The U.S. Department of Labor on Monday opened a 60-day comment period for feedback on the process of collecting information on policies issued to coal mine operators as part of the Black Lung Benefits Act.
The act requires mine operators to be insured and obligates insurers to report to the Division of Coal Mine Workers’ Compensation each policy and endorsement that is issued, renewed and canceled. Carriers are also required to file separate reports for each mine operator they insure.
