The New York State Inspector General’s Office announced that a drywall installer was ordered to pay more than $60,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to operating without mandatory workers’ compensation coverage.
Dennis R. Hammonds, 41, owner and operator of Hammonds Drywall, must pay $60,961 to the New York State Insurance Fund and a $5,000 fine after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of failure to secure comp insurance.
New York law requires all contractors to have a comp policy covering their workers.
