15 Charged With Dodging Comp in Sting Operation

Florida authorities have charged 15 men with contracting without a license and failing to obtain workers' compensation insurance on their employees.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office, working with the state Department of Financial Services, set up a sting operation in Bradenton, south of Tampa, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. 

The release did not give details about the sting, but previous Sheriff's Office and news reports have indicated that investigators advertised for bids on construction work. When the men arrived to look at the property, authorities checked their contracting licenses and comp insurance coverage.
