OSHA Fines Roofer $132,598 for Exposing Workers to Fall Hazards

Tuesday, April 9, 2019 | 0

Federal workplace safety investigators say a roofing company in Florida exposed its workers to fall hazards at a work site in Jacksonville.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Florida Roofing Experts Inc. $132,598 for failing to provide fall protection to those working at heights above 13 feet.

OSHA said in a statement that it initiated an inspection as part of its Regional Emphasis Program on Falls in Construction after inspectors saw employees performing roofing activities without gear to protect them from falls.

Florida Roofing Experts has 15 business days to comply, request an informal conference with the OSHA area director or contest findings before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
