An injured worker has filed suit against a former mayor of St. Louis, charging that Freeman R. Bosley Jr. failed to adequately represent him in an Illinois workers' compensation claim, according to a report by the Post-Dispatch.

Eugene Willingham is seeking damages of at least $25,000 from Bosley, whose law license was suspended in February 2014 after he admitted that he had combined personal funds with his clients' funds and used money from trust accounts to pay personal bills, according to the report.

Willingham's lawsuit is at least the second malpractice action against Bosley. The Post-Dispatch said that University City maintenance worker Dwayne Reid sued in in April 2013 for missing the deadline for filing a workers' compensation claim in Missouri. The case was dismissed in November 2015 after Bosley and his law firm, Bosley & Associates, paid $10,000, the newspaper said.

Bosley petitioned the Missouri Supreme Court to reinstate his law license in February, but no decision has been made.

Bosley was elected mayor of St. Louis in May 1993. He went back into private practice in 1997 after he lost his re-election bid to former St. Louis Police Chief Clarence Harmon, according to the newspaper.
