A bill introduced in Washington state would cut in half the disability duration needed to qualify for workers’ compensation benefits.
Injured workers in Washington are not entitled to compensation for the date they were injured or the following three days unless they suffer a disability that continues for at least 14 consecutive calendar days.
Senate Bill 5932, by Sen. Derek Stanford, D-Bothell, would require that the disability persists for at least seven days for an injured worker to be entitled to compensation.
