The U.S. Department of Labor is hosting a panel discussion on the 50th anniversary of the National Commission on State Workers’ Compensation Laws publishing its reports with recommendations for improving comp systems throughout the country.
The commission on July 31, 1972, presented a report to President Richard Nixon and Congress identifying 84 recommendations, 19 of which were characterized as “essential,” for ensuring workers’ compensation systems sufficiently protect injured workers.
