Data Show Drop in Claims Even as Virus Cases Surged in Florida

Florida may be the epicenter for the recent surge in COVID-19 infections, but the number of workers' compensation claims resulting from the illness has declined, at least through June, new data from the state show. The Division of Workers' Compensation last month began tracking the number of virus claims and indemnity amounts paid. The report for June, posted Friday, shows a steady decline in claims filed since the early days of the pandemic.
