Net investment income increased as net premiums earned decreased at Amerisafe Inc. during the third quarter.
The workers' compensation insurance provider to hazardous industries announced its third-quarter results on Wednesday.
Net premium earnings in the third quarter of 2016 were 0.6% less than the third quarter of 2015. Gross premiums decreased by $2.2 million, or 2.4%, compared to last year.
Investment income increased 15.6% to $8,006. The combined ratio for the third quarter of 2016 was 80.3%, compared to 79.1% last year.
